Kathleen is 80 years old。 After she has a run-in with an intruder, her children want her to move in to a residential home。 But she's not having any of it。 What she craves - what she needs - is adventure。

Martha is having a quarter-life crisis。 Unemployed, unloved, and uninspired, she just can't get her life together。 But she knows something has to change。

When Martha sees Kathleen's advertisement for a driver and companion to share an epic road trip across America with, she decides this job might be the answer to her prayers。 She's not the world's best driver, but anything has to be better than living with her parents。 And traveling with a stranger? No problem。 Anyway, how much trouble can one 80-year-old woman be?

As these women embark on the journey of a lifetime, they all discover it's never too late to start over。

I read this in a day, so it was obviously super compelling。 I loved the intertwining storylines。 There were some preachy moments but there were lots of really poignant moments too。

*****copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review*****I usually prefer Sarah Morgan’s romances to her women’s fiction but this is actually a lot of fun。 Women from three generations explore their lives and work out their relationships。 I wanted a little bit more closure for each of the women but it was a satisfying read overall - i read it in 24 hours so that says something!

As usual Sarah's book has been very enjoyable with delightful characters。 Really enjoyed the concept of this book。 Would like a second book though to read more about them all! Wow, what a read! This is going on my forever shelf ready for my daughter to read when she is ready in the hope it will do for her, what it did for me! I was scared by how much I identified with Liza, the daughter in the story, and it’s made me determined to be different going forward。 To appreciate what I have and also take responsibility for making changes/talking when things aren't so great。 I loved the different viewpoints, I absolutely adored Kathleen, what a legend of a lady! The backstories were so rich and believable making their actions so relatable and understandable in the story。 I loved the hint of romance, the huge hit of family and the absolutely stunning scenery。 I loved how different all the characters were and how this brought out the best in others。 Don't get me started on Finn Cool — oo la la! Temptation in its greatest form and played to great effect! This truly is such a poignant, special and life-affirming tale that I feel I can't do it justice in a review, all I can say is read it for yourself and you'll see what I mean。I absolutely loved it and have recommended it to all my busy friends who love to read, even those busy daddy's out there! If you’re looking for a good beach read, this is it。 Initially, I wasn’t crazy about the characters, but learned to love their flaws。 Super quick read to escape and dream about taking your own Route 66 road trip (as a travel blogger, I would have liked a little more descriptions of the stops)。 But I guess that’s just a backdrop to the real story of how all three women needed an escape to face what was missing in their lives。 One-word book review: SeekingSee all my one-word book reviews and ratin If you’re looking for a good beach read, this is it。 Initially, I wasn’t crazy about the characters, but learned to love their flaws。 Super quick read to escape and dream about taking your own Route 66 road trip (as a travel blogger, I would have liked a little more descriptions of the stops)。 But I guess that’s just a backdrop to the real story of how all three women needed an escape to face what was missing in their lives。 One-word book review: SeekingSee all my one-word book reviews and ratings: https://www。kmfiswriting。com/what-to-。。。 。。。more

The Summer Seekers - Sarah MorganAnother amazing read from one of my favourite authors。 Sarah Morgan does such an amazing job of letting the reader really feel like they know the characters。 I love how we get family dynamics alongside romantic interests and personal growth。 I fell in love with the 80 year old Kathleen and her love for life and travel, her road trip across America was just what I needed as a little escapism recently。 Lizzie (Kathleen's daughter) is the polar opposite to her mum i The Summer Seekers - Sarah MorganAnother amazing read from one of my favourite authors。 Sarah Morgan does such an amazing job of letting the reader really feel like they know the characters。 I love how we get family dynamics alongside romantic interests and personal growth。 I fell in love with the 80 year old Kathleen and her love for life and travel, her road trip across America was just what I needed as a little escapism recently。 Lizzie (Kathleen's daughter) is the polar opposite to her mum in many ways and it was lovely to see her blossom and discover a few things about herself。 Overall just loved everything about it! Wonderful story about strangers becoming friends and three ladies getting through life problems。 It shows that you should not let age hold you back。

Really 3。5。 After 80 year old Kathleen faces, and triumphs, against an intruder in her home she decides that she has been too passive and insular after the death of her husband and wants to return to her former vagabond ways。 Much to the horror of her daughter, whose initial response to the intruder was that it is time for her mother to stop living alone in a big house。 After a tug of wills, Kathleen gets her way with the provision that she hire a driver for the proposed trip following Highway 6 Really 3。5。 After 80 year old Kathleen faces, and triumphs, against an intruder in her home she decides that she has been too passive and insular after the death of her husband and wants to return to her former vagabond ways。 Much to the horror of her daughter, whose initial response to the intruder was that it is time for her mother to stop living alone in a big house。 After a tug of wills, Kathleen gets her way with the provision that she hire a driver for the proposed trip following Highway 66 in the US。 What ensues is a multigenerational tale of love yet emotional distance between the various characters。 I thought the story started a little slowly but continued to read, and was soon thoroughly engrossed in the entwined stories。 Not four stars mostly because I thought the author took the easy resolution too much but still a good read。 Free ebook from the library。 。。。more

The premise of an adventurous 80 year old who decides to go on a road trip from England to the US with a novice driver for company is a novel one。 Besides, given Sarah Morgan's writing skills, it promised to be humorous, laden with drama and filled with quirky but endearing characters。 And of course there would be a bit of romance thrown into the mix as well。 The Summer Seekers turned out to be a much heavier read than I expected。 The humour was a tad muted, the romance lacked zing and the quirk The premise of an adventurous 80 year old who decides to go on a road trip from England to the US with a novice driver for company is a novel one。 Besides, given Sarah Morgan's writing skills, it promised to be humorous, laden with drama and filled with quirky but endearing characters。 And of course there would be a bit of romance thrown into the mix as well。 The Summer Seekers turned out to be a much heavier read than I expected。 The humour was a tad muted, the romance lacked zing and the quirkiness quotient did not quite measure up。 The set up was too long and the journey didn't quite provide all the high points that I hoped it would。 Even so, it offers some pretty good life lessons。 。。。more

This book has a great cast of characters。 Kathleen is brash and direct but it works。 Even Liza redeems herself through the story; I found her pretty unlikeable to start。 Martha is fun and relatable。 I worried about Josh being predictable but he wasn't。 This book has a great cast of characters。 Kathleen is brash and direct but it works。 Even Liza redeems herself through the story; I found her pretty unlikeable to start。 Martha is fun and relatable。 I worried about Josh being predictable but he wasn't。 。。。more

This was an amazing book。 It was different to other Sarah Morgan books that I've read in the past but just as addictive。 Once I started I couldn't put it down。 The characters and situations are so believable。 I loved every minute of it and was sorry when I came to the end。 I can't wait for Sarah's next book "the Christmas escape"。 This was an amazing book。 It was different to other Sarah Morgan books that I've read in the past but just as addictive。 Once I started I couldn't put it down。 The characters and situations are so believable。 I loved every minute of it and was sorry when I came to the end。 I can't wait for Sarah's next book "the Christmas escape"。 。。。more

The evolution of Liza from a miserable, controlling person to a reasonable, life-enjoying individual is the highlight of the story。 I’m glad she and her family found a way to happily stay together

I don’t think I have ever loved a book, as much as I loved this! The characters were perfect! I feel in love with Kathleen immediately, warmed to Liza and adored Martha。 I enjoyed the storyline, and wished there was more chapters or even a follow on book。 I was laughing, and crying at this book。 It’s pure chic lit which will give you a warm fuzzy feeling。
